Mixed Berry Gratin

Ingredients

4 ½ cups fresh blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or blackberries
3/4 cup sugar
¾ cup framboise or sweet concord grape juice
2 cups heavy cream whipped until just thick
3/4 cup sliced almonds

Preparation

Prepare the Crème Anglaise.

Preheat the broiler until very hot.

Gently toss the berries with the Framboise and 1/4 cup of the sugar in a mixing bowl. Arrange the berries in six 8-ounce gratin dishes or shallow ovenproof bowls, reserving the juice.

Fold the whipped cream and 1/4 cup of the remaining Framboise mixture into the Crème Anglaise. Pour this mixture over the berries.

Sprinkle each serving with the sliced almonds and the remaining sugar. Place the gratin dishes on a baking sheet and place under the broiler until the surface of the cream is browned and bubbly, about 20 seconds.

To serve, place each gratin dish on a plate and serve immediately.
